The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) honored classified employees at an afternoon reception on May 17 as part of California Classified School Employee Week. Board of Education trustees and administrators from the Superintendent's Cabinet donned aprons and served ice cream to employees as a gesture of appreciation for their many contributions to education throughout the year.

"Without your help, our teachers could not teach, our administrators could not do their jobs, and our students could not thrive."

During its May 3 meeting, the Sacramento County Board of Education adopted a resolution proclaiming May 15–21, 2016 as "Classified School Employee Week" in Sacramento County.

In a message to SCOE's classified employees, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon wrote, "On behalf of the Board of Education and the SCOE Cabinet, I would like to offer our warmest personal thanks to you for all of the contributions that you make as a valued member of our education team. We greatly appreciate the outstanding service that you provide to our students, their families, and to our Sacramento County community. Without your help, our teachers could not teach, our administrators could not do their jobs, and our students could not thrive."
