Sacramento County Board of Education
The Sacramento County Board of Education derives its power and authority from the State Constitution (Article IX) and laws of the State of California. The County Board consists of seven elected members, each serving four-year terms. The County Superintendent serves as secretary to the Board of Education.
In addition to conducting its regular business, other Board responsibilities include hearing student expulsion appeals and interdistrict transfer appeals. Various Board sub-committees—including the Executive Committee, Policy Committee, and Budget Committee—strategize and discuss topics in-depth, developing recommendations that can be reported back to the Board.
