SCOE Arts Programs
The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) Arts Programs provide Sacramento's youth with access to meaningful arts experiences that inspire creativity, build confidence, and support academic success. Through innovative arts education opportunities, SCOE Arts Programs empower students to become creative thinkers, collaborative learners, and active contributors to their communities. We expand equitable access to the arts by supporting arts integration in classrooms, partnering with schools and community organizations, and bringing professional teaching artists directly to students. These experiences engage learners in culturally responsive, hands-on learning that fosters creativity, communication, collaboration, and social-emotional growth while helping every student discover and develop their unique voice.
Any Given Child Arts Program
In partnership with The Kennedy Center’s Ensuring the Arts for Any Given Child, this program allows professional teaching artists to work alongside teachers and students in one of the following art forms: visual arts, music, theatre, dance, and digital media. Students also experience schoolwide assemblies that celebrate culture, creativity, and community while incorporating social-emotional learning strategies that support student well-being and engagement.
Sacramento Healthy HeARTs and Minds Arts Program
Sacramento Healthy HeARTs and Minds integrates arts learning, mentoring, and mental health supports to address the social-emotional and wellness needs of students in grades TK–12. In both programs, SCOE contracts with community partners to provide meaningful arts experiences that foster students’ growth and development.
SCOE Arts Regional Professional Learning
Beyond direct student services, SCOE Arts Programs provide regional professional learning in arts integration and arts instructional strategies for classroom teachers, student support staff, and teaching artists. We also collaborate with county offices of education and educational partners throughout California through the California State Superintendents Arts Initiative to strengthen arts education systems, share best practices, and ensure all students have access to high-quality arts learning opportunities.
Funding for Arts and Music in Schools
California Proposition 28 (Arts and Music in Schools), which was approved in 2022, provides funding to supplement arts education programs. Local educational agencies with more than 500 pupils must expend at least 80 percent of the funds to employ certificated or classified employees to provide arts education instruction.
