At its April 21 meeting, the Sacramento County Board of Education recognized three local principals for championing arts education in their schools. The three administrators were presented with the Principal Arts Leadership (PAL) Award, an annual recognition created by SCOE's Leadership Institute to honor administrators who are making a difference in the arts and to highlight the positive impact arts education has on students. The three principals were recognized for effectively supporting and promoting arts education as a way to excite, engage, and inspire students.

The Leadership Institute, part of the "Leading" division of the new SCOE School of Education, collaborates with local school districts to prepare and support current and aspiring education leaders.

In honor of Arts Education Month, student artwork from the principals' three schools is on display at SCOE's David P. Meaney Education Center.
