Sacramento County Board of Education Trustee Area 6 Vacancy
The Sacramento County Board of Education is seeking applications from qualified residents interested in serving as the Trustee for Area 6. The vacancy follows the resignation of Trustee Heather Davis, who served Area 6 for over 10 years following her election in 2016 and re-elections in 2020 and 2022.
At its September 15, 2026 Board Meeting, the Board voted to fill this vacancy through a provisional appointment. A copy of the Board’s resolution can be downloaded here. The selected individual will serve until the next regularly scheduled County Board election in 2028.
Important Dates and Deadlines
- Application Deadline: Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. PST (Applications must be received, not postmarked, by this deadline.)
- Candidate Interviews and Selection: Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sacramento County Office of Education’s Board Room located at 10474 Mather Blvd., Mather, CA 95655.
Eligibility and Qualifications
To be eligible for this appointment to the Sacramento County Board of Education for Trustee Area 6, candidates must meet the following legal requirements pursuant to California Education Code sections 1000(a) and 1006(a):

Live within Trustee Area 6 (a map of communities represented is below);

Be a registered voter; and
-
Not be an employee of SCOE or an employee of any school district within the boundaries of the Sacramento County Board of Education.
Documents Required to Apply
To be considered for the provisional appointment, applicants must submit:

A resume; and

A statement, of no more than two pages, outlining their interest in serving on the Board and the experience they would bring to the Board.
Applicants may also submit no more than three letters of recommendation.

Communities include: Clarksburg, Clay, Collierville, Courtland, most of Elk Grove, Franklin, Galt, Herald, Hood, Isleton, Locke, Rio Vista, Ryde, Sheldon, Thornton, Walnut Grove, and Wilton.
School Districts include: Major portion of Elk Grove Unified; and all of Arcohe Union, Galt Joint Union Elementary, Galt Joint Union High School, and River Delta Unified.
