The Schirmer family have the most family members buried at the Pleasant Grove Cemetetery.
We have been unable to obtain very much information on the Schirmer family. Mrs. Annie B. Schirmer was a native of Switzerland. It appears that Mrs. Annie B. and John U. Schirmer were the parents of Annie Barbara, George W., John U. Jr., William F., Emil Charies A., Peter H., and Frank E.
William F. Schirmer died at the age of 56 in Elk Grove on April 1, 1911. He was born and lived his entire life on the family ranch near Sheldon (Elk Grove). Obitutary says: brother of Charles A., Frank E., Emil and Peter H. Schirmer.
Charles A. Schirmer was married to Emma E. Schirmer . Emma was the daughter of Edward K. Healey (also buried at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery). Emma was born June 5,1866. Emma and Charles had at least one child that died as an infant. It is unknown where Emma E. Schirmer is buried. However, there is a gravesite for E. Schirmer buried next to Charles Schirmer. We assumed that this was Emma's until we came upon some records that show an Emil Schirmer was buried at the Cemetery. Emil was Charles brother. There is an "unknown" grave site next to the Schirmer's headstone. This is possibly part of the Schirmer family but we are not sure.
It appears that the Schirmer family and the Winkelman family were related (also buried at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery). In the 1900 census Elizabeth Winkelman was listed as the aunt of William Schirmer, and Matilda Russell and Emma Winkelman were listed as the cousins of William Schirmer.
This information was obtained from: The Sacramento Bee. (March 2, 1897; Nov. 15, 1915; Jan. 6, 1921; Aug. 8, 1930) and the 1900 Census.
