The Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Fourth Grade Essay Contest

Fourth-grade teachers—sign up your class and participate in the 2010 Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Essay Contest.  In conjunction with their study of California history, students will write an essay on the topic "A Day in School in 1875."  All participants will receive a certificate, and students chosen as their schools' winners will receive an award.  Those advancing to the finals will be eligible for additional awards and prizes—including cash prizes for the top winners and teachers.

Winning school essays must be received by March 19, 2010.  The Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum will hold an awards ceremony to honor the winners on April 22, 2010.

Prizes are presented courtesy of the Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum, Capital City and Harding San Juan Masonic Lodges, California State Parks, the Sacramento River Cats, and others.

The Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Fourth Grade Essay Contest fits the narrative component of the California STAR (standardized testing).
