AVID® (Advancement Via Individual Determination)
The Sacramento Cal-SOAP provides tutoring services through AVID, a model 7th-12th grade classroom college preparatory program started in San Diego in 1980 and supported locally in 60 schools by the Sacramento County Office of Education. AVID helps underachieving students succeed in challenging academic courses and attain eligibility for four-year colleges.
Sacramento County Office of Education
The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state of California. Approximately 700 full-time and more than 2,500 part-time SCOE staff work year-round providing services which complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in the County of Sacramento. Over 230,000 K-12 students are served by public schools in Sacramento County.
Breakthrough Sacramento
Breakthrough Sacramento (formerly Summerbridge Sacramento) is a year-round, tuition-free, college preparatory program for academically motivated students. It is also a teacher-training program for talented high school and college students. As a member of The Breakthrough Collaborative, Breakthrough Sacramento implements the 'students-teaching-students' model that has a proven record of success during our intensive summer program for middle school students. Weekly Breakthroughs at middle school sites strengthen the relationships formed during the summer while Saturday Breakthroughs bring the entire learning community together. Based at Sacramento Country Day School, Breakthrough Sacramento serves students in Sacramento City Unified and Grant Joint Union School Districts.
California State University, Sacramento
California State University, Sacramento is committed to teaching and learning as its primary responsibility, and dedicated to advancing the many social, economic, political, and scientific issues affecting the region and the state. The University’s curricular and co-curricular programs continue to focus on these issues through undergraduate and post-baccalaureate programs that prepare graduates for successful careers dedicated to public service and the enhancement of the quality of life within the region and the state.
University of California, Davis - Early Academic Outreach Program
UC Davis is one of the nation's top public research universities and is part of the world's pre-eminent public university system. EAOP is one of the major UC programs to increase the eligibility and participation rates of underrepresented and disadvantaged students. EAOP serves students in grades 7-12 and provides individual and group activities for students, parents, and schools.
Los Rios Community College District
The Los Rios Community College District is a two-year public college district serving the greater Sacramento region. It includes American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake, and Sacramento City colleges. LRCCD colleges offer transfer education-and AA/AS degrees and certificates in over 70 career fields.
