Photo of Francie Tidey, FounderFrancie Tidey founded College Horizons in 1986 as a nonprofit organization to address the challenging national problem of low college attendance among students with limited income and opportunities.

Ms. Tidey was honored by Sacramento Magazine as its first-year Sacramento Pride Award winner in the field of education. The Western Association for College Admission Counseling has presented her with its annual Human Services Award.

Through classroom presentations and individual counseling, College Horizons helps students in Sacramento-area high schools gain admission and financial aid to two-year and four-year public and private institutions throughout the country.

In 1996, the California Student Aid Commission awarded College Horizons a state grant to become one of seventeen Cal-SOAP projects. College Horizons maintains its status as a nonprofit organization to help fund scholarships. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
