NEWS! Cal Grant Update! In response to the fiscal crisis facing the State of California, a proposal has been advanced to eliminate all new Cal Grants for California students. For more than 100,000 students planning to attend California community colleges, public universities, and private/independent colleges and universities in fall 2009, this means that Cal Grants they have already been awarded (ranging from $576 to $9,708) may not be available. This also means students' ability to pay for their education may be compromised, and their plans may be in jeopardy. And it means that future students will no longer have access to a program that has assisted students in paying for their education for more than 50 years. For more perspectives on this issue, see:

It could lead to a scholarship to a college summer program while you're still in high school, travel expenses for college visits, SAT prep courses, or a new laptop computer. And, it could eventually lead to a four-year college scholarship. Welcome!The Sacramento Cal-SOAP Consortium is one of 15 projects of the California Student Opportunity Access Program, administered statewide by the California Student Aid Commission. The Sacramento Cal-SOAP directly serves students in 55 elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Sacramento County. The project provides tutoring services to students in nearly 80 AVID classes and delivers a college and financial aid advising program to approximately 5,300 students in nine high schools.
