Williams v. State of California Lawsuit Settlement

NAVIGATION

The settlement of the Williams v. State of California lawsuit and the resulting legislation signed into state law in 2004 imposes responsibilities and duties on school districts and county offices of education in an attempt to ensure that all public school students are provided equally with appropriate instructional materials, safe and adequate school facilities, and qualified teachers.

County offices of education review Williams schools throughout the counties and prepare quarterly reports on the required areas of review [Ed. Code § 1240, subdivision (I)].

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is committed to implementing these responsibilities in partnership with districts and in a manner that provides assistance to schools.
