The Communications Office provides communication services to support the Sacramento County Office of Education's programs and services. It assists school districts in Sacramento County with strategic communications and media outreach and serves as a key disseminator of information to educators and community leaders countywide. Primary responsibilities include conducting communications activities (including composition of news stories and news releases; photography; Web design; page layout; data entry; copy editing; and answering media, staff, and public inquiries via e-mail, phone, and mail) to improve public understanding of the County Office. In cooperation with SCOE's BTSA Department, the Communications Office helps conduct the annual Sacramento County Teachers of the Year program. The Communications Office also collaborates with the C-SAPA department on the annual Sacramento County Academic Decathlon, Sacramento County Academic Bowl, Sacramento County History Day, Mock Trial, and Moot Court programs.
Other ongoing responsibilities include the annual back-to-school Employee Recognition Day in-service, Employees of the Month program, California Day of the Teacher/Classified School Employees Week, and other assignments from the Superintendent and Cabinet. The Communications Office coordinates internal communications activities to enhance employee relations and provides auxiliary communications technical support/consultation services to the SCOE Administration Department, the Sacramento County Board of Education and district administrators.

- Development and maintenance of SCOE website and various SCOE program/department websites
- Sacramento County Teachers of the Year Program (with SCOE BTSA Department)
Sacramento County Public Schools Directory and SCOE Staff Directory
- SCOE employee events
- SCOE Employee Recognition Day
- Employee United Way Campaign
The SCOE Communications Office works with County Office and school district administrators and staff, media representatives, parents, students, educators and members of the general public to raise awareness of County Office programs and services.

Sacramento County Public Schools Directory
An annual, comprehensive listing of all public schools and districts within the county. This document is available for purchase by contacting Beth Flory (see "Contacts" section of this entry) or you may download the Directory. An order form is also available for purchasing printed copies.
The Communications Office has affiliations with the California School Public Relations Association (CalSPRA), the Schools Insurance Authority (SIA) County Wellness Committee, and other agencies and organizations. The Communications Office has been recognized with local and statewide awards for its work.
