Last October, the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) convened a COVID Youth Response Board (CYRB) to promote youth leadership and civic engagement. The CYRB, made up of 5–10 members, ages 14 to 25, has provided select Sacramento youth with opportunities to acquire leadership skills as they respond to community mental health, wellness, and social-emotional development needs related to the challenges presented by COVID-19.

The CYRB has developed a grant proposal process, along with a Request for Proposal (RFP). They have been reviewing and evaluating grant applications received from community members and organizations in order to select grant recipients. The CYRB will also provide program support and follow-up for the grant recipients. A summary of the funded projects, impact, and summary of surveys conducted by the Board will be shared with the Sacramento County Board of Trustees.

This initiative is funded by a donation of $25,000 from Intel.
