The California Dyslexia Initiative is hosting a professional learning network (PLN) to give educators the opportunity to collaborate, share knowledge, and learn from leading experts. The event is on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 (9 a.m.–1 p.m.).
Registration is free for the online event, which is being presented by the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) in partnership with the California Department of Education (CDE), the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE), and the California State Board of Education (SBE). An additional professional learning network event is planned for spring 2023.
Jason Yeatman, Ph.D., Associate Professor at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, will be the keynote speaker. He will discuss how the brain learns to read, why some children struggle, and the impact of evidence-based intervention.
Following the keynote, breakout sessions will be led by Kelli Sandman-Hurley, Ed.D., Karina Quezada, Psy.D., Shawn Anthony Robinson, Ph.D., and Daniel Silberstein, M.Ed.
