Fans and families cheered as the 2022 Sacramento County Classified School Employees of the Year and the Sacramento County Teachers of the Year 2023 were recognized at Saturday’s soccer game between the Sacramento Republic FC and the Rio Grande Valley Toros at Heart Health Park, Cal Expo. Sac Republic paid tribute to both groups of school employees by hosting “Honor Our Educators Night,” which was presented in partnership with William Jessup University.

The honorees were congratulated by Sacramento County Board of Education trustees Alfred Brown and Mariana Corona Sabeniano. They were joined on the pitch by David W. Gordon, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools, during halftime as they received custom trophies.

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) coordinates the Sacramento County Teachers of the Year program, as well as the Sacramento County Classified School Employees of the Year program, recognizing the exemplary performance and education contributions of local educators and support staff. District Teachers of the Year 2023 will be recognized at a ceremony later this month when the two Sacramento County Teachers of the Year 2023 will be announced.
