All 13 Sacramento County School Districts and the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) today agreed to keep their campuses closed through the end of the school year to jointly support the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) mitigation effort. The decision was made in consultation with Sacramento County Health Director Dr. Peter Beilenson.

"I commend our districts and their fine staffs for doing everything possible to provide distance learning. Districts will also continue distributing meals to students in need," said David W. Gordon, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools.

Superintendent Gordon emphasized that, while school facilities will not be re-opening, education for students will continue via distance learning. SCOE is also providing a collection of enrichment resources for students, families, and school districts that may be helpful for remote learning.

School meal pickups will continue to be available throughout Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services has published an interactive map of local meal distribution sites reported by local school districts.

The announcement by the districts is in accordance with recent statements by Governor Newsom and State Superintendent Thurmond that all California districts should focus on distance learning for the remainder of the current school year.
