Video Ceremonies Celebrate Spring 2020 SCOE Graduates

Families Invited to Gather Virtually to Honor Class of 2020

Due to social distancing measures in response to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is hosting online commencement ceremonies to recognize the accomplishments of students graduating from Community Schools and Special Education programs this spring.

“These are not the original ceremonies we had planned, but our students, their families, and our teachers and staff will still be celebrating virtually,” said David W. Gordon, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools. “We are thrilled to honor our students who showed great grit and determination in completing this school year during such a difficult time.”

Community Schools—Noon on Wednesday, May 27

A graduation video will premiere on YouTube to honor 55 Community Schools students from SCOE’s programs at Elinor Lincoln Hickey Jr./Sr. High School, Gerber Community School, North Area Community School, and the Senior Extension Program. The ceremony will feature surprise guest speakers.

Leo A. Palmiter Jr./Sr. High School Graduation—11 a.m. on Thursday, June 4

An online graduation ceremony will be held to celebrate students graduating from SCOE’s Special Education program at Leo A. Palmiter Jr./Sr. High School.
