Leadership Institute Honors 2015 Graduates

Administrative Credential Program Prepares Future Education Leaders

On June 20, a celebration inside the Sheldon High School auditorium was held to honor the fifth graduating class of the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) Leadership Institute.

During the ceremony, 43 participants received a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential, allowing them to apply for site administrator, vice-principal, and other district administration positions. The credentials are authorized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

This year, SCOE operated a Sacramento cohort, plus satellite programs in Shasta and Placer Counties.

The Leadership Institute, part of the SCOE School of Education, is focused on preparing aspiring administrators to fill the expected need for highly qualified and trained administrators. It also helps train newly appointed administrators (one or two years of experience), continuing administrators (three or more years of experience), and established district administrators.

The SCOE School of Education houses two divisions: Teaching and Leading. The "Teaching" division includes the Intern Program and BTSA (Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment). The "Leading" division of the School of Education includes the Leadership Institute, and was honored with a prestigious Golden Bell Award from the California School Boards Association in 2013.
