September 27 Event to Focus on Active Learning for Children

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) and the First 5 Sacramento Commission are hosting a Northern California Early Learning Summit titled "Active Learning for the Curious Mind. What Works, What Lasts, and Why?"

The summit will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 (7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.) at Cosumnes River College: 8401 Center Parkway, Sacramento.

Keynote Speakers

Kenneth Wesson: Known as the "Science Master," Mr. Wesson will be speaking on creating "brain-considerate" learning environments for children. Wesson speaks about how the brain learns while discussing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and engaging the audience in active learning.

Dr. Paul Morehouse: A singer and songwriter of children's music, Dr. Morehouse recently moved to the Sacramento-area from Los Angeles where he is well known for conducting children's concerts and providing professional development opportunities for teachers. During his keynote, he will address the "A" in STEAM. This interactive and fun closing keynote will connect to the morning discussion of STEAM.
