Local Distinguished Schools Receive Certificates at Pre-Game Ceremony

The outstanding achievements of several Sacramento-area schools were celebrated on May 31 by more than 10,000 fans of the Sacramento Monarchs WNBA team. California Distinguished Schools have demonstrated exemplary parent participation, school staff commitment, professional development, community involvement, and academic achievement.

As one of numerous community service activities conducted by Maloof Sports and Entertainment and the Sacramento Monarchs, the salute to California Distinguished Schools included complimentary game tickets for ceremony participants and specially priced tickets available for purchase by staff, students and parents. Other Monarchs 2000 season education projects include the Y.E.S. (Youth! Education! Success!) enrichment program for children, grades 4-6, and the Summer Reading Challenge in partnership with the Sacramento Public Library.
