SCOE launches the school year with its annual Employee Recognition Day inservice—the only time all staff come together in one place. Previously called Quality Commitment Day, the half-day event started in 1986 and is planned/coordinated by a small group of SCOE staff. The County Superintendent highlights accomplishments and outlines goals for the year. Employees receive awards for milestone years of service and retirement. Key insurance and investment companies, plus other vendors provide helpful information to staff. Videos highlight SCOE programs and how students and clients are being helped. Keynote speakers talk about inspirational and relevant topics, and display tables help staff understand the accomplishments of other departments and programs.
