Services for Districts
NAVIGATION
Project TEACH ensures that students living in homeless situations succeed through collaborative efforts with school districts. Each school district is required to designate a liaison for children experiencing homelessness in compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Improvements Assistance Act. As a county office program, Project TEACH provides assistance to school districts as follows:
- Encourages and assists school districts to establish a program or services
- Provides support to the liaison and/or designated contact person(s)
- Resolves disputes regarding the educational placement of children experiencing homelessness
- Increases awareness and compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Improvements Assistance Act through collaboration with districts, shelter agencies, community agencies, and parents
- Coordination between agencies and school districts on events which results in donated supplies for students
- Promotes accurate reporting of data to the California Department of Education
- Local educational liaison representative at interagency forums
- Coordinates the Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Collaborative to provide a forum for school districts and agencies to engage in problem-solving

Sacramento County Resources
This EHCY Master Resource List is intended to be a tool for homeless liaisons, all school staff, families who have access, and any provider of services to quickly access resources. This tool allows the user to filter by each column. For example, you can filter “category” by food, shelter, mental health, etc. Once filtered, a general list will be revealed. A notes section is on the far right and has specific details to the current COVID-19 details. This is a live document and if another user just closed the document after filtering, you will need to filter or remove a filter to reveal the entire list.
There are additional local resources in areas within Sacramento; this list is a general list encompassing the greater Sacramento area.
