Capital Metro Area AVID
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a proven college-readiness system, part of the national AVID Center, that is designed to increase the number of students who enroll and persist in postsecondary education. Although AVID serves all students, it focuses on the least served students in the academic middle. The formula is simple: raise expectations of students and, with the AVID support system in place, they will rise to the challenge.
AVID is implemented in 6,379 schools in 46 states, plus 16 countries or territories. It serves nearly 1.5 million students annually. Schools and districts have taken AVID methodologies and strategies and implemented them school-wide and district-wide to impact their entire communities and create articulated programs for college success.
