The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. Classified Employee of the Month
Clint Duke, an Accounting Technician in the Financial Services Department, was nominated by Associate Superintendent Nick Schweizer and Coordinator Peter Schwefel for his outstanding contributions to the department and his support of SCOE's student-facing programs. He provides exceptional financial support to programs such as our Court School, Community Schools, and Sly Park, ensuring seamless operations that directly benefit students. Known for his wide-ranging experience and his proactive approach, Clint efficiently addresses challenges and follows through on tasks with diligence and care. His commitment to excellent customer service extends to both colleagues in Financial Services and those he supports in SCOE's student programs, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. A true team player, Clint consistently steps in to assist others, embodying professionalism and dedication that enhance the success of the entire department. Todd Gillihan, affectionately known as Grizzly, a teacher with over 14 years of dedicated service at Sly Park Environmental Education Center, was nominated by Director II Jeremy Meyers. With a background in Watershed Science and Natural Resources, Todd exemplifies a commitment to high-quality, standards-aligned education. His engaging teaching methods align seamlessly with the Next Generation Science Standards, making complex scientific concepts accessible and exciting for the 6th-grade students who visit Sly Park. Todd prioritizes the well-being of his students, fostering an environment where social-educational learning takes center stage. His ability to connect with every 6th grader who visits Sly Park creates a welcoming space for exploration and growth, ensuring that each student leaves with enhanced scientific knowledge as well as greater confidence and self-awareness. Having lived in the Sly Park area for over 30 years, Todd's deep connection to the natural world is evident in every lesson he teaches. Todd Gillihan has been a SCOE employee since August 2012.
