Board Recognizes January 2022 Employees of the Month

January 2022 Classified Employee of the Month Amanda Wirz and January 2022 Certificated Employee of the Month Irene Geivett were recognized by the County Board of Education.

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.

Classified Employee of the Month

Amanda Wirz, School Secretary, was nominated for her contributions to the Special Education program at Dry Creek Elementary School by Principal Randy Olson. Wirz has contributed to creating a positive and supportive culture for the SCOE Foundations program for students with moderate to severe disabilities. Additionally, she supports the Special Education nursing team at Dry Creek. Wirz is extremely efficient in balancing the needs of staff, and rarely misses a day of work. Amanda Wirz has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since 2019.

Certificated Employee of the Month

Irene Geivett, Vision Specialist, was nominated for her contributions to the Special Education program at Dry Creek Elementary School by Principal Randy Olson. Geivett supports students, 5-22 yrs. old, with vision impairments at Dry Creek and at other SCOE programs throughout the county. Initially hired as a special education teacher, Geivett saw a need for qualified vision teachers. She is currently taking classes to get her credential as a teacher of the visually impaired. Geivett also serves SCOE as Teacher in Charge, and will also take time to provide support by mentoring classroom teachers who are new to the profession. Irene has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since 2019.
