Board Recognizes September 2021 Employees of the Month

September 2021 Classified Employees of the Month Lin Baerresen and Suzanne Shehadeh and September 2021 Certificated Employee of the Month Allen Walsh were recognized by the County Board of Education.

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.

Classified Employee of the Month

Lin Baerresen and Suzanne Shehadeh, Para-Educators, Special Education, have been nominated by Area Principal Sharon Botkin, for their contributions to SCOE’s Preschool Inclusion Programs. Ms. Baerresen and Ms. Shehadeh are Para-Educators at Hillsdale Head Start and support students ages three to five years of age with disabilities, and their peers in an inclusive setting. Ms. Baerresen is also a Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experiences (MOVE) coach who supports teaching teams in implementing strategies around the MOVE curriculum. Ms. Shehadeh also serves as an interpreter for other classroom teachers providing communication for school staff and families. Ms. Baerresen has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since February 1984. Ms. Shehadeh has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since 1999.

Certificated Employee of the Month

Allen Walsh, Special Education Teacher, has been nominated by Area Principal Sharon Botkin, for his contributions to SCOE’s Preschool Inclusion Programs. This summer, Mr. Walsh served as a teacher at Hillsdale Head Start where he supported students ages three to five years of age with disabilities, and their peers within an inclusive setting. He is an enthusiastic teacher with many positive qualities who engages well with students. He supports the students’ goals within their inclusive settings. Mr. Walsh collaborates with his team members to provide the best program for students by embedding strategies within the classroom routines for student success. He is a professional who has provided excellence and consistency for the preschool programs. Mr. Walsh has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since 2008.
