Board Recognizes March 2021 Employees of the Month

March 2021 Classified Employee of the Month Cydny Rossi and March 2021 Certificated Employees of the Month Steffani LaZier and Suzanne Shehadeh were recognized by the County Board of Education

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. The Sacramento County Board of Education celebrates the accomplishments and exemplary service of SCOE employees through the Employees of the Month Program.

Classified Employees of the Month

Cydny Rossi—Staff Secretary, has been nominated by Executive Director Steve Winlock, Executive Director, for her contributions to SCOE’s School of Education. Cydny Rossi typically works as School Secretary, supporting the Sly Park Environmental Education Center. Because COVID-19 restrictions caused the camp to temporarily close, she was reassigned to the team at the School of Education as Staff Secretary. During the transition from Sly Park to the School of Education, Ms. Rossi has adapted to the challenges of her new work environment by assuming oversight and coordination of programs such as the 2021 Sacramento County Poetry Out Loud competition. Cydny Rossi has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since May 2014.

Certificated Employees of the Month

Suzanne White, Teacher, Alternative Education, and Steffani LaZier, Teacher, Alternative Education, have been nominated by Court School Principal Barb Modlin and Senior Extension Principal Craig Bradford for contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. Both Suzanne White and Steffrani LaZier have served for many years as outdoor science teachers at the Sly Park Environmental Education Center. During COVID-19, restrictions forced the temporary closures of Sly Park. Ms. White was reassigned to El Centro Jr./Sr. High School and Ms. LaZier to the Senior Extension Program to help meet the needs of SCOE students and families. Both teachers have adapted smoothly to the challenges of a new work environment. Suzanne White has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since October 2012. Steffani Lazier has been a Sacramento County Office of Education employee since August 2007.
