Board Recognizes August 2002 Employees of the Month

​The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 650 regular and more than 950 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County.

Classified Employee of the Month

Linda Baerresen, a Para-Educator II with the Special Services Department, was nominated by Sharon Holstege, Principal. for her contributions to the Sacramento County Office of Education. She is part of a team that provides support to children with severe disabilities in collaboration with Headstart. As part of this team, Lin has worked with a variety of SCOE and Headstart staff. She has always demonstrated an ability to work well with a variety of individuals as a team member. Lin has worked with children with severe medical challenges, taking care of their needs in a respectful and competent manner. She is knowledgeable about adaptive equipment for students with orthopedic challenges. Lin works well with a variety of children. Her calm approach is reassuring to students and to the families of her students. Lin seeks out additional training opportunities in order to add to her skills.

Certificated Employee of the Month

Terri Moss, is a teacher of the visually impaired for the Sacramento County Office of Education, Special Service Department, and works with students with severe disabilities. She is knowledgeable about materials and resources for students who are visually impaired in our Severely Handicapped Program. She is very flexible, even supporting a child in a home setting to better transition him into a preschool program. Terri has, for several years, served in the capacity of “Teacher in Charge” for some of our central area programs. In this role, she has had the responsibility of chairing IEP meetings, addressing parent concerns, assisting in transition planning for students exiting from SCOE programs, and a variety of other assignments. Terri has been very conscientious in completing paperwork, following timelines, addressing compliance issues, and following up with families and appropriate individuals.
