Reentry Programs
Since 2007, the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) Reentry Programs have supported thousands of clients throughout the region returning to their communities after incarceration. Originally created to help parolees transition from prison into the community, the programs have expanded to serve people navigating the criminal justice system at various levels of supervision and involvement. The Placer County location also offers services specifically for youth on probation.
SCOE Reentry Programs provide a variety of services in six counties: Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba through partnerships with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), county Probation and Health and Human Services departments, community-based organizations, and the Superior Courts. As one of only two county offices of education in California offering Reentry services, SCOE delivers support in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment, both in person and remotely.
The primary objective is to prevent further involvement in the justice system by implementing industry best practices in individually tailored, evidence-based intervention programs to reduce recidivism (repeat offenses).

The primary goal is to reduce recidivism by using industry best practices and individually tailored, evidence-based interventions. Services include cognitive–behavioral programming, academic support, job readiness and vocational training, transitional housing assistance, benefits screening, transportation support, and connections to community resources. Each site operates as a “one-stop shop” to make services accessible and coordinated.
Participants are referred by supervising agencies such as parole, probation, or the sheriff’s office. SCOE works closely with participants, their families, and supervising officers to support a successful transition home and long-term stability.
