History/Social Science
The K–12 History/Social Science Department provides resources to schools, districts, students, and parents with respect to history/Social Science instruction for all grades. The department disseminates information related to the Common Core Standards for Literacy in History/Social Science and California Content Standards for History/Social Science. The department will provide resources and information related to History/Social Science. The department highlights various resources available to teachers and schools in order to promote a deeper understanding of the concepts related to History/Social Science relevant to today's current events and trends. The department partners with local school districts and higher education institutions to create resources, professional development, and networking opportunities for schools and districts.
California Common Core Standards
For grades K–5, California’s Common Core Standards for Literacy in History and Social Science are embedded in the standards for reading informational text, literature, and writing. In grades 6–12, there are separate standards that help teachers see the cross-curricular applications to History and Social Science.
