Leadership Series Launched for SCOE Classified Managers

Professional Learning to Focus on Technical and Interpersonal Skills

The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is making a strong investment in its leaders with the launch of a “LEAD to SUCCEED” professional learning series. The series, a collaboration of the SCOE School of Education and the SCOE Personnel Department, is designed to support the career growth of SCOE’s classified managers.

A steering committee made up of leaders from various SCOE departments was formed to provide guidance in the development of the program. There will be a series of sessions throughout the year and participants will receive ongoing support. The focus will be on technical, conceptual, and interpersonal skills.

“We are making a strong investment in our leaders to support their continued personal and professional growth,” said David W. Gordon, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools. “We want to provide them with a pathway to growth.”

“All people, no matter how talented and intuitive, benefit from mentoring and guidance,” said Dr. Nancy Herota, Deputy Superintendent. “While it’s important to know how to run an effective meeting, it’s also important to know how to coach employees and help other team members set goals for themselves.”

Through the launch of the leadership development series, SCOE is making a commitment to its classified leaders to help them refine their skills. The series will provide them with tools and resources to grow, develop, and increase their leadership successes.
