What is AVID®?
AVID is an elective class that motivates and prepares educationally disadvantaged students to attend college and attain a four-year university degree. AVID supports students in college preparatory subject areas and teaches academic achievement skills (i.e., note-taking, time management, organization). More than 90% of AVID students subsequently enroll in college; seventy percent attend 4-year universities.

- Teaches critical thinking and collaborative learning through small groups led by college student tutors
- Teaches study skills and long-term academic survival/success skills
