The Capital Adult​​ Education Regional Consortium (CAERC)​​ is a recently funded program designed to ramp-up programs and classes for adult learners. New classes are being established in seven authorized areas:

  • Elementary and secondary basic skills and high school diploma or equivalency
  • English as a second language and citizenship
  • Programs related to entry or reentry into the workforce
  • Programs designed to assist K-12 children to succeed in school
  • Programs for adults with disabilities
  • Short-term career technical education with high employment potential
  • Pre-apprenticeship training activities

CAERC has identified four key priorities to address the regional needs and gaps: 1) rebuild adult education programs, 2) align services an​​​​d pathways, 3) enhance student support services, and 4) establish a data and accountability system. This collaborative effort is comprised of 13 members and 22 partner agencies. Members include:

  • Amador County Unified School District
  • Center Joint Unified School District
  • Davis Joint Unified School District
  • Elk Grove Unified School District
  • Folsom Cordova Unified School District
  • Galt Joint Union High School District
  • Los Rios Community College District
    • American River College
    • Cosumnes River College
    • Folsom Lake College
    • Sacramento City College
  • Natomas Unified School District
  • Sacramento City Unified School District
  • ​Sacramento County Office of Education​
  • San Juan Unified School District
  • Twin Rivers Unified School District
  • Washington Unified School District

Partners​​​

Partners include other county offices of education, one-stop service agencies, libraries, community literacy programs, state agencies and other stakeholders.
