The goal of the Sacramento County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) is to support and assist nine member districts, as well as the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), with their special education programs and services, enabling them to operate in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. The SELPA is responsible for ensuring that every eligible child receives appropriate services. In addition to administrative support, the SELPA helps its members comply with legal requirements concerning students with disabilities, and provides professional development activities to foster better relationships between schools and the families of special needs students.

Participants

8,000 special education students and their families receive services from the Sacramento County SELPA, which includes the following members: Arcohe Union, Center Joint Unified, Elverta Joint, Galt Joint Union, Galt Joint Union High, Natomas Unified, River Delta Unified, Robla, and Twin Rivers Unified School Districts, as well as SCOE.

Partners

The Sacramento County SELPA works in coordination with the other four local SELPAs: Elk Grove USD SELPA, Folsom Cordova USD SELPA, San Juan USD SELPA, and Sacramento City USD SELPA. The Sacramento County SELPA Director also works closely with superintendents from each of the participating districts, as well as SELPA directors throughout the state.
