The K-12 Science Department assists districts, teachers, parents, and students with science curriculum and instruction. This department helps students and educators become more successful in science and science instruction, working to create leaders in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, the California Common Core State Standards, the Next Generation Science Standards, and upcoming changes in assessment practices.
Science-related professional development opportunities are listed online.
This department collaborates with regional science projects, including the Sacramento Regional Science Fair, Resource Area for Teaching Science (RAFT), the Environmental Education Initiative (EEI), Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), the Powerhouse Science Center, UC Davis, California State University Sacramento, and other groups helping to promote science activities.
