Santa Barbara County Education OfficeProgram Philosophy
Children with special needs are valuable citizens who make positive contributions to their families, neighborhoods and community. We have learned that the more natural the environment is for a child with special needs, the greater the opportunity to develop to his or her fullest potential. We will identify children who have special needs. We will serve these children and their families based on evidence based practices for early childhood education. We will provide the necessary support in order to serve the child in the least restrictive environment. We will serve as facilitators for cooperative practices involving family, school and community agencies. We will appreciate and respond to the differences inherent in families and within the community.
