Program Philosophy
HOPE provides family-centered, comprehensive, coordinated, quality education services for children with disabilities (birth to three) and their families. HOPE is one of the oldest early intervention programs in the state - operating since 1975.
What is Offered
- Consultative model in home, school, and community based on family choice for visually impaired infants and toddlers
- Home program for solely low incidence visually impaired infants and toddlers
- Developmentally appropriate interventions
- Making, adapting and using materials
- Role of the VI teacher as part of the early intervention team
- Functional vision assessment in home and school
- Developmental assessment in natural environment
- Determination of eligibility for solely low incidence and dualeligibility
- Utilizing and understanding ophthalmologic and optometric information

- Home visits
- Home and community vision consultation and assessment
Off-Site Services
The site can bring to you:
- Information about assessment of visually impaired infants and toddlers
- Information about utilizing (or being) a teacher of the visually impaired in a heterogeneous infant program
- Information on how visual impairment impacts development and methods of addressing these issues
