Join the Task Force

The Sacramento County Task Force for the Education of Homeless Children (Task Force) was formed in 1990. The Task Force provides networking opportunities between school districts, community organizations, service providers, shelter and housing agencies. As a forum for problem solving and information exchange, the Task Force eliminates barriers to education for children living in homeless situations.

The Sacramento County Children’s Coalition identified the Task Force as the Champion for Homeless Children. The committees of the Task Force address strategies and provide information to include in the Sacramento County Children’s Report Card.

The meetings are held at various locations (e.g., shelters, service agencies, transitional living programs) in order for members to learn about available services. An agency overview and tour of the facility is provided by the host location.

The Task Force promotes community awareness through collaboration of business partners on projects or events, which result in community donations for children. Stuff the Bus is one event that was made possible through collaboration with business sponsors for public service announcements. During the live television broadcast by CBS 13/CW 31 on the final day of the event, the donated school supplies are loaded onto the buses from various school districts.
