Help a Child
Project TEACH receives generous donations from businesses, organizations, agencies, service clubs and individuals. New items can be donated to
shelter agencies and/or the
liaison for children experiencing homelessness (liaisons) designated by your school district. There are numerous examples of successful methods to volunteer time and collect donated resources to help children, which include:
- Organization/club members are requested to bring an item (school supplies, personal care items or
backpacks filled with school supplies) to their next luncheon, meeting or event
- Businesses provide the time for employees to fulfill the wish lists of children for holiday gifts or to
volunteer at a shelter or service agency
- Service clubs use fund raising resources to purchase school supplies, including children’s books,
calculators and flash cards
- Scout leaders encourage troops or its members to choose service projects, which result in a donation
of a specific item, such as new children’s socks
- Churches or religious organizations are asked by its members to sponsor the collection of specific
donated items, such as handmade quilts
- Educational and government agencies provide a collection barrel for the hotel travel size hygiene
items obtained at conferences or meetings
- Professionals address specific topics, such as budgeting, parenting, health/nutrition, first aid, job preparation
(resume, interviews) during a parent meeting at a shelter or transitional housing program
- Identify an on-call list of Individuals with trucks willing to pick-up large donations or large items for shelter agencies
