Elizabeth and James B. Maholm were married. Elizabeth Nesche came from Missouri in 1858 and James B. came from Ohio in 1854. He returned to Ohio, but in 1858 he came back and settled in the small community of Sheldon. James a term as a California Assemblyman. He also owned a teaming and supply business. James died when he was 85, and Elizabeth died when she was 88.

James and Elizabeth had four children. Their names were George B., Lyda, Mamie, and Anne. Anne died when she was only 1 year 11 months.
