Mr. Willam A. Jinkins lived sixteen miles from Sacramento, and three miles from Elk Grove, his Post Office. He owned 100 and eighty acres of land.
The name on his head stone is spelled Jinkins, however the information we have obtained shows the spelling as Jenkins. He died April 28, 1877. William A. Jinkins was married to an Amanda M. Devin. She had been previously married to John O. Devin, also buried at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, who died in 1873. After John Devin's death she married William A. Jenkins. Therefore, William and Amanda must have been married sometime between 1873 and1877. It is known that after William A. Jenkins died she had eight children, five boys and tree girls. According to the 1870 Census Mr. Devin and Amanda had seven children. Their names were William B., Dennis, Jane, Charles, Bricannea, Adolphius, and Alvin. We are unsure if the eighth child is Mr Devin's or Mr. Jenkins's. After William A. Jenkins died Amanda was again married to a Mr. Evans. Her name was then Amanda M. Evans. She is also buried at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
