The abrupt closure this month of California Charter Academy's four charter schools has resulted in closure of over 70 satellite campuses statewide Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon said today. It is estimated that over 9,000 students from these schools will be displaced as a result. Approximately 200 of those students reside in Sacramento County.

At the request of State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell, the Sacramento County Office of Education is working closely with the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association and local school districts to provide students and parents with the information they need to find school placements.

The Sacramento County Office of Education is providing local districts information to assist in reaching out to families of students who have been displaced by the California Charter Academy closure. Parents will be encouraged to contact their local school district to enroll their child. Superintendent Gordon said, "Together, we want to help ensure that there is minimal disruption to students' education." Superintendent Gordon urges parents of students affected by the closure to contact their local school districts for more information about registering at a school in their area.
