The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices located throughout the state. Approximately 700 full-time and more than 2,500 part-time SCOE staff work year-round providing services which complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in the County of Sacramento. Over 230,000 K-12 students are served by public schools in Sacramento County.

May 2007 Classified Employee of the Month

Bob LaDrigue, a Para-Educator, was nominated by Principal Carmen Walker for his contributions to the Special Education/ED program at Leo A. Palmiter Jr.-Sr. High School. For most of his years at the Palmiter campus, Mr. LaDrigue has served in the seventh grade classroom, working with special needs students. He assists the seventh grade teacher with the school's instructional program as well as with student behavior modification and reinforcement. Mr. LaDrigue's colleagues report: "He is dedicated and truly cares about the students." … "He put together a video presentation for Back-to-School Night." ... "Bob is upbeat and displays a positive attitude every day." … "He's a very humble man." … "He's efficient, willing, and friendly." Concludes his supervisor, "Every teacher with whom Mr. LaDrigue has worked considers him a valuable member of the team." Mr. LaDrigue has been employed by the Sacramento County Office of Education since March 1989.

May 2007 Certificated Employee of the Month

Kim Russell, a Teacher, was nominated by Principal Stephen Wright for her contributions to the Juvenile Court Schools program of the Sacramento County Office of Education. Ms. Russell teaches students at SCOE's Esperanza Jr.-Sr. High School campus, located within the Warren E. Thornton Youth Center operated by the Sacramento County Probation Department. She serves as Teacher in Charge and takes a lead role in implementing positive change, including the school's pilot math curriculum. Ms. Russell's supervisor says, "She is innovative, adaptable, courageous, and understanding. She has outstanding people skills and has utilized them to facilitate the many new elements of the student-centered program at the Warren E. Thornton Youth Center. Ms. Russell has led by example and has consistently taken on extra duties in order to provide the best possible educational program for our students." Ms. Russell has been employed by the Sacramento County Office of Education since February 1996.
