California State University (CSU) Admissions Requirements

For California high school students, there are three main factors used to determine eligibility for admissions:

  • Specific high school courses (the "a-g" requirements)
  • Your grades and test scores
  • Graduation from high school

Students need to complete the pattern or courses required for admission (the "a-g" requirements) with a grade or C or better in each class. But grades are only part of the equation (unless you have a grade point average above 3.0). The CSU uses a calculation called an Eligibility Index which combines your high school grade point average with the score you earn on either an SAT I or ACT test.

For admission to attend California State University campuses in Fall of 2010, applications should be submitted during the initial filing period - October 1- November 30, 2009. The November deadline is critical for applications to the following impacted campuses:

  • Chico
  • Fullerton
  • Long Beach
  • Cal Poly Pomona
  • San Diego
  • San Marcos
  • Sonoma
  • San Luis Obispo
