Program Philosophy
All children are valued and have a right to an educational opportunity. Our shared goal is to create a variety of learning environments and supports throughout the communities served by the Pasadena Unified School District that allow young children to explore, play and learn regardless of ability or disability.
Our shared vision is that our community can and must “network” to pool existing resources or create new resources that offer learning options for children that are appropriate to the diverse needs of our children and their families. We must take an active role in creating community awareness, acceptance and responsibility in addressing the diverse needs of young children and families within our community.
Our shared commitment represents both public and private community agencies committed to:
- Maintaining high quality developmentally appropriate programs in natural and least restrictive environments
- Recognizing and valuing the diversity of young children and families
- Recognizing that no one agency alone can adequately meet the diverse needs of its constituents
- Sharing resources and expertise to increase capacity and quality of all
- Creating and maintaining an atmosphere of flexibility, mutual trust and respect in working with families and between agencies
