Local educators, civic leaders, and other invitees attended today’s kickoff of the 21st year of one of Sacramento County’s best-kept fine dining secrets: the Culinary Café.
Students are the driving force behind the Culinary Café and the Culinary Arts Program at Leo A. Palmiter Jr./Sr. High School and Elinor Lincoln Hickey Jr./Sr. High School. The Café, launched during the 1998–99 school year, teaches social and employability skills. The long-running program has helped place many students in jobs at Sacramento-area restaurants.
The launch of the program for the 2019–20 school year showcased the food handling and serving skills students are learning from Chef/Instructor Stephen Hazelton.
Lunch is served at noon on most Thursdays, starting November 8, 2019. The cost is $10 (gratuities appreciated). All proceeds are invested back into the program.
To make lunch reservations, call the Culinary Café at (916) 228-2039.
