2017 SCOE Classified Employee of the Year Honored by Board of Education

Transition Specialist Natalya Edwards Receives Plaque

The Sacramento County Board of Education recognized Natalya Edwards, the 2017 SCOE Classified Employee of the Year, at its meeting yesterday evening. Edwards is a Transition Specialist for SCOE’s Adult Re-Entry Programs and has been employed by the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) since July 2005.

Edwards manages a significant caseload of clients as a Transition Specialist. Her supervisors report that she has been instrumental in the success of numerous Adult Re-Entry events including resource fairs, high school equivalency certificate ceremonies, and awards banquets. She has trainer certifications in anger management, parenting, changing offender behavior, Thinking for Change, WorkNet, and client risk/need assessment.

When choosing Edwards as the 2017 SCOE Classified Employee of the Year, the selection committee noted that she strives to develop a personal, yet professional relationship with clients; fosters a cooperative relationship with SCOE’s partner agencies involved in the transition process; and takes additional steps to assist clients with extra-curricular activities, self-help, job readiness and social skills. In addition, she obtained a college degree in order to better serve clients.
